The Festival

The Festival of International Conferences on Caregiving, Disability, Aging and Technology (FICCDAT) will bring together five important and different conferences all focused on enhancing the lives of seniors, persons with disabilities and their family caregivers.

Between June 16-19, 2007 rehabilitation, social and health services providers, government policy makers, researchers, family caregivers, students, seniors and persons with disabilities from around the world will gather in Toronto, Canada to explore issues facing aging populations, the implications for healthcare systems and service providers, the roles and responsibilities of family caregivers and policy, and how new research findings and technologies are leading new and practical solutions.

National Rehabilitation Nursing Conference

Toronto Rehab and the Canadian Association of Rehabilitation Nurses (CARN), an emerging national association recognized by the Canadian Nurses Association, are pleased to announce 2007 National Rehabilitation Nursing Conference: the Future is Now.

This national conference will host the inaugural annual general meeting of CARN, and aims to facilitate networking, building best practices while empowering rehab nurses across Canada.

Rehab nurses, managers, directors, policy makers, researchers, students, and representatives from national and provincial nursing groups are invited to network and share the latest research and information on topics such as ethics, patient safety, interdisciplinary approaches to care, self-management, risk-taking and the role of the nurse in rehabilitation.

Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation Symposium

Toronto Rehab is pleased to host the 2007 Multiple Sclerosis Rehabilitation Symposium, themed Changing Services for Changing Needs. This one-day event will explore innovations and outcomes of clinical services that meet the changing needs of persons over the course of their MS, in benign, relapsing-remitting and progressive stages.

Service providers and health care professionals, including PTs, OTs, SLPs, nurses, social workers, physicians and program managers from hospital and community-based settings, are invited to network, collaborate and share their experiences.

Leaders in the field of MS will speak on topics such as, affective, behavioural and cognitive issues of MS, cognitive impairments in the workplace, treating MS, chronic disease management models, fitness, falls, and the patient/family perspectives.
